Last Saturday, a first-in-the-nation law went into effect in Minnesota. This law bans “nudification”, a technology that facilitates the non-consensual creation of sexually explicit images of real people.

Nudification apps are primarily used to target women and children and in a slightly reasonable world, banning such things would be obvious, immediate and easy. But we live in the same world as Elon Musk.

Elon objected to Minnesota’s nudification ban so severely that his company SpaceX sued, in a failed attempt at stifling the law.

This particular horror of Elon doesn’t stop with his objects to protecting children — or his visits to Jeffrey Epstein’s island. As NBC News reported last week:

SpaceX, xAI’s parent company, faces class action lawsuits from plaintiffs who claim Grok’s AI chatbot created or shared nude deepfakes of them as children or as adults. The lawsuits also say that xAI failed to alert authorities to the alleged perpetrators who used the tool to create their nude deepfakes.

I remember everyone who ever told me this was the smartest man in the world.

Why do we let men like this continue to take part in our society? The dreadful answer can be observed at least as early as our country’s founding.
