Well, hello there!
As you may have noticed, there hasn’t been a First Friday Micro-Concert in a little while. I apologize. The sole reason for this is that zoom updates have made their sound unworkable for live acoustic music. I teach online guitar lessons with Google Meet and while the sound is workable for that, it’s abysmal for a performance.
Not to worry, though! I am currently working on a solution. In the meantime, however, instead of a Micro-Concert this month, I offer you this playlist. These songs all come from Black American folk music traditions and each was deeply influential to me when I first began playing this music.
I hope you enjoy these as much as I do. Please let me know what you think of them and hopefully we’ll be back on for the Micro-Concert in July!
As ever,
SJ
